VA Hearing Services
at Peninsula Hearing and Balance Center
If you receive your healthcare through the VA, accessing hearing care outside of the VA system can feel uncertain.
At Peninsula Hearing and Balance Center, services for veterans are provided through the VA’s Community Care Network (CCN), with a focus on making the process easier to understand and navigate.
Care is delivered with respect for your service and a commitment to clear communication at every step. The goal is to provide straightforward guidance, thorough evaluations, and reliable follow-through once authorization is in place.
HOW VA HEARING CARE WORKS
Hearing services at this practice are provided through referrals from the Department of Veterans Affairs using the Community Care Network. Care begins within the VA system and is then coordinated with an approved community provider.

The process typically includes:
- Taking your DD-214 to Member Services at your local VA
- Requesting the Community Care Network for hearing services
- Requesting Peninsula Hearing and Balance Center as your provider
- The VA will send the authorization to us
- We will call the veteran to schedule the appointment for hearing services once they receive the authorization
Understanding Timelines and Next Steps
The timeline for VA-authorized hearing care can vary depending on referral processing and availability. In some cases, scheduling within the VA system may take longer than expected, which is one reason community care may be considered.
Staying in contact with your VA provider and asking about your options can help keep the process moving. Once authorization is received, scheduling and care through our office is handled promptly, with clear communication throughout.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
Once your referral and authorization are in place, your visit is designed to be thorough, efficient, and easy to follow. The focus is on understanding your hearing needs and providing clear next steps.
Comprehensive Hearing Care for Veterans
Services provided through VA referral may include a full range of hearing care. Care is tailored to your specific needs. This may include diagnostic evaluations, hearing aid selection and fitting, repairs, maintenance, and ongoing follow-up care. Each service is provided with attention to accuracy, comfort, and long-term hearing support.
Respectful, Patient-Focused Care
Every patient is treated with the same level of attention and professionalism, recognizing that navigating VA services can sometimes feel complex. Clear explanations and consistent follow-through help ensure you know what to expect at each stage.
Questions are always welcome, and care is delivered in a way that prioritizes understanding over urgency. This approach helps create a more comfortable and predictable experience from referral to follow-up.
